Love & Romance – Four Little Stories in Watercolor
Love can be expressed in many ways. Sometimes a gesture, a look, or a small symbol is enough. For my new series "Love & Romance – Mugs with Heart", I have developed four designs that capture exactly these thoughts: two hands with a red heart, wedding rings among roses and hearts, red roses as a classic message of love, and two lovebirds in a tree full of hearts.
🎨 Colors that tell more
When designing the colors, it wasn't just about a harmonious effect. Each color can also convey a meaning:
- ❤️ Red: Love, passion, and deep feelings.
- 🌸 Rosé: Tenderness and closeness.
- 🌿 Green: Hope, life, and a love that is allowed to grow.
- 💙 Blue: Trust and loyalty.
- ✨ Warm gold and natural tones: Constancy and security.
These meanings were part of my design considerations. Not every color has to appear in every design. What was important to me was that the color effect suited the respective story. Soft watercolor transitions and deliberately left white spaces ensure lightness.
✏️ From the first sketches to the finished illustration
The creation of the designs did not begin on the computer with a finished image. I had already developed initial ideas, image compositions, and sketches on my tablet. This gave rise to ideas of how the individual elements should be arranged and what mood I wanted to achieve with them.
I then further developed these designs digitally. I use Photoshop for image editing, color adjustments, fine-tuning individual details, and the final image effect. During further elaboration, I also use AI-powered tools.
For me, it remains crucial that the finished design corresponds to my original idea. Not every design makes it to the final version.
🕊️ Small signs of connection
The four illustrations can now be found on white ceramic mugs with a capacity of 330 ml. They are suitable as a loving gift for a wedding, Valentine's Day, an anniversary, or simply for someone who is particularly close to your heart.
Because the most beautiful messages of love sometimes only need a very ordinary place in everyday life.
