Vibrant purple figs meet their bright pinkish-red interior, while green and dark olives appear among long, narrow leaves. Small light blossoms and individual loose color accents connect the different elements.

The composition does not appear as a strictly arranged still life. Instead, fruits and branches grow loosely into the white space, intentionally leaving plenty of room on the ceramic.

The Play of Violet, Green, and White

Particularly charming is the contrast between the dark skins of the figs, their warm interior, and the subdued green tones of the olive branches. The white background keeps the composition bright and prevents the stronger fruit colors from becoming too dominant.

This creates an illustration that appears botanical but not rigid. Individual leaves may fade, contours may blur, and small dabs of color remain visible – precisely therein lies the lightness of watercolor.

White or Pink – Two Different Accents

The white edition appears particularly clear and understated. Here, figs, olives, and branches take center stage, and the natural coloration of the motif is especially highlighted.

In the pink edition, the rim, inner surface, and handle pick up the warm pink tones of the sliced figs. This creates a softer, somewhat more playful variant without altering the Mediterranean character of the design.
