A Master of Camouflage

The green grasshopper sits among tall grasses and narrow leaves. Its body, legs, and wings adopt the same shades of green as the plants, making the animal seem almost part of the meadow.

Only its very long antennae break through this play of lines and blades. They extend far through the illustration, lending a delicate, almost graphic tension to the motif.

From Encounter to the Whole Meadow
