A small guest among white blossoms

The ladybug is not large and prominent in the center. Rather, it appears like a random discovery among bent blades, loose flower stalks and the yellow centers of the chamomile.

It is precisely this difference in size that gives the illustration its special effect: the plants form a small landscape, while the beetle almost seems like a silent visitor within it.

Two sides of the same small meadow

The design extends over both sides of the mug. One view shows the ladybug among larger chamomile blossoms and grasses.

On the opposite side, the scene is calmer: here, the blossoms and fine plant forms are more in focus. Turning the mug thus creates the impression of the gaze wandering a small distance over the same meadow.

Lightness instead of botanical rigor

The plants are not designed as precisely elaborated botanical studies. Lines are allowed to get lost, green areas remain transparent and individual stalks are only hinted at with a few brushstrokes.

Much visible white keeps the composition open. The red ladybug sets a single strong accent between green, cream and warm yellow – small, but hard to miss.
